Tino Boos (born April 10, 1975 in Düsseldorf , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a former German ice hockey player who played for the Düsseldorfer EG , Kassel Huskies , Kölner Haie and Hannover Scorpions in the German Ice Hockey League . The center is a former national player and the son of the former Bundesliga player Wolfgang Boos .

Career

Tino Boos began his professional career in the 1992/93 season at Düsseldorfer EG , for whose junior team he had previously played, and immediately celebrated winning the German championship with the Rhinelander . Until the introduction of the German Ice Hockey League in 1994 , the right-handed shooter only got a few appearances and therefore decided to switch to the Kassel Huskies . With the establishment of the new German professional game class, the man from Düsseldorf received a regular place in the huskies, with whom he was able to reach the play-offs four times in six seasons. The greatest success was the runner-up in 1997, when the huskies were only defeated by the Adler Mannheim in the final .

In 2000 Boos left Kassel and signed a contract with the Kölner Haien , for which he was on the ice until the end of the 2006/07 season . In his first season in Cologne he was one of the top performers, but the year was not particularly successful for the club. In 2002 the striker finally celebrated his first title win with the Haien: In the final of the German championship they defeated Mannheim with 3-2 victories. In the following season Boos was runner-up with the Haien, in 2004 they won the DEB Cup .

Boos subsequently established himself as one of the most consistent German players in the DEL. In the 2005/06 season , the attacker was only the third player to reach 600 DEL games. From 2002 to 2007, the right-shooter also held the post of assistant captain at the sharks and thus represented the incumbent Dave McLlwain in the event of injuries .

For the 2007/08 season , Tino Boos signed a contract with league competitor Hannover Scorpions and won his third championship title with this in the 2009/10 season . In May 2011, the Scorpions announced that Boos would not receive a new contract for the 2011/12 season. On July 18, 2011, the striker was signed again by the Kölner Haie. The term of the contract was initially set for the end of December 2011, but the Haie opted for the option of extending it until the end of April 2012. At the end of March 2012 it was announced that Boos would appear for the Düsseldorfer EG in the 2012/13 season . Due to a persistent adductor injury, Boos was only able to play two games and, after the injury broke out again, indicated that he would probably end his career.

With 914 games, Boos ranks 12th among the DEL players with the most stakes and collected 1,122 penalty minutes in his DEL career, which means 9th place (as of August 2019).

National team

Boos played a total of 100 times for the national team. At the B-World Championships in 1999 and 2000 , where he was promoted again with the team, the attacker was just as important a support in the national team as he was at the World Championships in 2003 , 2004 and 2005 , where he was unable to prevent relegation. Due to a few injuries, Boos failed to make further missions, including the 2001 World Cup in Germany . In addition, the center forward took part in the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin as well as in the B World Championship taking place in April 2006 . At this tournament, the Rhinelander managed his third promotion to the A group with Team Germany.

At the 2007 World Cup in Moscow, Boos was not considered due to the rejuvenation of the squad by national coach Uwe Krupp and then ended his career in the DEB selection.

After the career

Boos headed the disciplinary committee of the DEL and DEL2 as chairman for four years until August 2019 . Lorenz Funk junior was his successor . He also acted as an observer of the league for developments in the youth sector and advised the DEL.
