Career

Lorenz Funk began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at EC Bad Tölz , for whose professional team he played in the 2nd League South from 1986 to 1989 . The attacker then switched to Bundesliga club EV Landshut , for whom he was on the ice for three years before he was signed by the Düsseldorfer EG in the summer of 1992 . With the team from the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, he won the German championship in the 1992/93 and 1995/96 seasons.

Following this success, Funk signed a contract with the Eisbären Berlin , with whom he reached third place in the European Hockey League on an international level in the 1998/99 season . After four years he left the capital city before the 2000/01 season and returned to Düsseldorfer EG, which in the meantime had been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga and had been promoted to the German Ice Hockey League in the previous year . After the season, the left shooter was signed by the Berlin Capitals , which he also left after just one year after they withdrew from the DEL in 2002. Funk ended his career with the Hanover Scorpions , for which he played until 2004.

From the 2009/10 season Lorenz Funk became manager and in the 2011/2012 season also manager of the DEL Club Nürnberg Ice Tigers , where he was released on March 21, 2013.
