Florian Funk (born December 18, 1969 in Bad Tölz ) is a former German ice hockey player and current coach , who played in the German ice hockey league from 1986 to 2002 for the EC Hannover , Eisbären Berlin and Berlin Capitals, among others Has. His father Lorenz Funk senior and his brother Lorenz Funk junior were also professional ice hockey players. Since the end of his career he has worked as a trainer.
Career
As a player
Florian Funk began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at EC Bad Tölz , for which he was active in the 2nd League South from 1986 to 1990 . The attacker then moved to Bundesliga club EC Hedos Munich , where he spent the next three years. The 1993/94 season began the left-handed shooter at Starbulls Rosenheim in the Bundesliga and ended it at EC Hannover in the 2nd North League, with which he played in the newly founded DEL from the following season . When Lower Saxony withdrew from the DEL in 1996, the native Bavarian switched to Eisbären Berlin , with whom he reached third place in the European Hockey League on an international level in the 1998/99 season .
After the funk in the 1999/2000 season exclusively for the Eisbären Berlin Juniors in the Oberliga Nord , he signed with the regional league team TSV Peissenberg , with whom he was under contract until the middle of the 2001/02 season. During this season he also played in a game in the DEL for the Berlin Capitals , as well as 21 times in the 2nd Bundesliga for his home club EC Bad Tölz, where he ended his career after the season.
As a trainer
Between 2006 and 2010 Florian Funk looked after the U16 team at EC Bad Tölz in the school league. He was then promoted to head coach of the men's team, which was then playing in the major league. He led the team successfully in the following years and had a positive win-loss ratio until 2014. In February 2015, his contract was terminated after a series of defeats. In the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons he was head coach of the ESC Riverrats Geretsried in the ice hockey Bavarian league , before he returned to EC Bad Tölz in 2017 as a junior coach of the DNL team. Between December 2017 and 2019, Funk was also the assistant trainer of the Tölzer Löwen DEL2 team.
