The Unstruttal Association in the Burgenlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt was established on January 1st, 2010. The following incorporations took place on July 1st, 2009 to form the Association :
- Incorporation of the municipality of Wangen into the city of Nebra (Unstrut)
- Incorporation of the communities Burgscheidungen and Kirchscheidungen in the city of Laucha an der Unstrut
- Incorporation of the communities Baumersroda and Ebersroda into the community Gleina
- Incorporation of the communities of Pödelist , Schleberoda , Weischütz and Zeuchfeld into the city of Freyburg (Unstrut)
- Incorporation of the municipalities of Burkersroda , Großernitz and Hirschroda into the municipality of Balgstädt
Furthermore, the municipality of Reinsdorf was incorporated into the city of Nebra (Unstrut) on September 1, 2010.
The population of the association was 15,630 (as of December 31, 2017, including Reinsdorf). The seat of the association is Freyburg.

Parts of the association are located on the eponymous Unstrut , on the Saale and in the Saale-Unstrut-Triasland nature park .

The election to the municipal council on May 25, 2014 led to the following result with a turnout of 50.9%:

The first mayor of the association is Jana Schumann, who was confirmed in office in the mayoral election on October 23, 2016 with 57.47% of the valid votes.

The coat of arms was approved by the district on January 20, 2010.
Blazon : "In silver, diagonally divided by blue wavy bars, above a leafy green bunch of grapes, below a green disc, sprinkled with a silver disc, three silver arcs and silver dots."
The colors of the association are blue and white.
The Verbandsgemeinde continues the coat of arms of the former Unstruttal administrative community designed by heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .

The federal highways 176 , 180 and 250 run through the community area . In Wangen, Nebra, Reinsdorf, Karsdorf, Kirchscheidungen, Laucha, Balgstädt and Freyburg there are stations of the Unstrutbahn Naumburg – Wangen (–Reinsdorf) , on which regional trains run by Abellio Rail Central Germany every hour .
