The Abellio Rail Central Germany GmbH is a 100 percent subsidiary of the holding company Abellio Rail GmbH, based in Halle (Saale) .

Saale-Thuringia-Südharz network

In October 2012 Abellio Rail was named by NASA GmbH , NVS , ZVNL , NVV and LNVG as the winner of the tender for the Saale-Thuringia-Südharz network. The contract began with the timetable change in December 2015 and has a term of 15 years. 35 Bombardier Talent 2 are used .

The network includes several lines from Halle / Leipzig via Naumburg to Erfurt / Eisenach / Saalfeld , and from Halle via Sangerhausen and Nordhausen to Leinefelde / Heilbad Heiligenstadt / Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe .

The long turnaround times of the trains in Leipzig were used in 2017 during the “modell-hobby-spiel” trade fair to extend it to the trade fair station there.

A dedicated workshop was built for the network in Sangerhausen station , which has been expanded since 2018.

Central German S-Bahn II

Abellio Rail was announced on March 8, 2013 as the winner of the tender for the Central German S-Bahn network in Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg. Subject to objections from unsuccessful bidders, the company should use a number of lines from December 2015 to December 2030.

In a press release from NASA GmbH on October 1, 2013, it became known that Abellio Rail is not ready to maintain its offer. Instead, DB Regio AG has moved up.

Saxony-Anhalt diesel network

On December 14, 2015 Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt (NASA GmbH) announced that it intends to award Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland for the Saxony-Anhalt diesel network (DISA) with lots A and B. On December 29, 2015, the contract was declared legally binding. The contract began with the timetable change in December 2018 and has a term of 14 years.

54 Alstom Coradia LINT 41 are used . These are serviced by Verkehrs Industrie Systeme Halberstadt . After approval by the Federal Railway Authority, the first two vehicles were accepted by the manufacturer on May 9, 2018. They have 110 seats, storage space for up to 9 bicycles, a seating corner at the end of the vehicle, a ticket machine, WiFi and a WiFi-based infotainment portal.

Abellio plans to initially equip three of these vehicles with a hybrid drive.

As early as September 2018 (DB Regio) and October 2018 (Transdev), Abellio began preliminary operations on some routes. Due to a shortage of around 40 train drivers (approx. 10% of the total requirement), no regional trains ran on the Unstrutbahn from January 2 to March 4, 2019. For the first month of operation, NASA therefore paid Abellio 250,000 euros less.

Harz-Berlin-Express

As with the predecessor Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt, three pairs of trains on the RE 11 line will be extended as the Harz-Berlin Express from Thale and Goslar via Halberstadt and Magdeburg to Potsdam and Berlin at the weekend . In Saxony-Anhalt this connection is a regularly ordered local train and can be used with DB and network tickets. Special fares apply between Genthin and Berlin Ostbahnhof. The free ride for disabled is possible in the total distance of the resin-Berlin-Express.

Transitional agreement RE 18

Due to construction work on five bridges across the Saale between Weißenfels and Naumburg (Saale), line RE 18 (Halle Hbf – Saalfeld (Saale)) operated from December 10, 2017 to December 8, 2018. This was limited to one timetable year and has been operated by DB Regio Südost since December 2018.
