Josef Georg Wagenhäuser

Joseph Georg Wagenhäuser (born April 19, 1852 in Würzburg , † April 9, 1931 in Tübingen ) was professor of ear medicine and founder of the Tübingen Ear Clinic.

Life

Joseph Wagenhäuser began his professional career after completing an internship with Hermann Schwartze in Halle in 1876 ​​in Würzburg with Anton von Tröltsch, where he returned. Anton von Tröltsch was the founder of German ear medicine and co-inventor of the ear mirror . Wagenhäuser was von Tröltsch's favorite student and married his daughter Clara Aline Elisabetha Freiin von Tröltsch (1861–1954). In 1882 he took a position in Tübingen at the surgical clinic. He developed into an excellent ear surgeon and from 1888 built up the Tübingen Ear Clinic, which later became the ENT Clinic.
