The Verbandsgemeinde Wethautal is a regional authority in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The association is located on the eponymous Wethau and on the Saale .

Member municipalities

history

The association was founded on January 1, 2010. Most of the communities involved had previously been part of the Wethautal administrative community . Since association communities are allowed to have a maximum of eight member communities with 1,000 residents each, the following changes were made on the same day:

  • Merger of the municipalities of Abtlöbnitz (155 inhabitants), Casekirchen (246 inhabitants), Leislau (258 inhabitants) and Molau (542 inhabitants) to form the new municipality of Molauer Land (1,201 inhabitants)
  • Merger of the municipalities of Görschen (515 inhabitants), Löbitz (438 inhabitants) and Mertendorf (692 inhabitants) to form the new municipality of Mertendorf (1,645 inhabitants)
  • Merger of the municipalities of Gieckau (333 inhabitants) and Wethau (685 inhabitants) to form the new municipality of Wethau (1,018 inhabitants)
  • Merger of the municipalities of Meineweh (627 inhabitants), Pretzsch (173 inhabitants) and Unterkaka (290 inhabitants) to form the new municipality of Anhalt Süd (1,090 inhabitants)
  • Incorporation of the communities Goldschau (304 inhabitants), Heidegrund (667 inhabitants) and Waldau (492 inhabitants) into the city of Osterfeld, whose population increases from 1,299 to 2,762

The coat of arms was designed by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and approved by the district on October 1, 2010.
