Görschen is a district of the municipality of Mertendorf in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Görschen is about eight kilometers southeast of Naumburg (Saale) . Droitzen , Rathewitz and Scheiplitz were designated as districts of the former community .
history
Görschen - also Goerschen or Gorschen - was first mentioned in 998. To this day there is a Thuringian noble family of the same name, " von Görschen ", who named themselves after the place. The first representative was Conradus de Gorsne , who appeared as a witness on June 22, 1186. The stem series begins June 12, 1271 with miles nobilis vir Petrus de Görsene . It left its headquarters in the 18th century.
Görschen belonged to the Albertine Electorate of Saxony in the 17th century . In 1620, Elector Johann Georg I enfeoffed Christian Schenk von Tautenburg with goods in Görschen and Droitzen in the office of Weißenfels . After the death of Christian Schenk von Tautenburg, both places belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office of Tautenburg as exclaves from 1640/52 . With the Congress of Vienna in 1815 Görschen came to the Prussian district of Naumburg in the province of Saxony .
On January 1, 2010, the communities of Görschen and Löbitz merged with the community of Mertendorf to form the new community of Mertendorf.
