description

building

The large building that defines the townscape is a Romanesque choir tower church with a rectangular tower and a semicircular, retracted apse. In the choir and apse there are arched windows which are believed to date from the 12th century. In the longitudinal walls of the ship, an oculus and an arched window were built. A half-timbered storey was added to the tower in 1774 and a hipped roof was added later. In the same year, the interior of the church was probably redesigned in Baroque style. The pointed arched windows in the choir and nave today come from a Gothicization that took place in 1834.

Interior and equipment

The church has a flat ceiling and a horseshoe gallery, which were restored in 1910. In the same year the pulpit was also renewed with its remarkable ornamental painting. On the north wall is the remainder of a late Gothic mural depicting Saint Lawrence, Matthew, Margareta, Maria and Barbara as well as Andreas, a doctor of the church, and Bartholomew and Simon. A stencil painting consisting of a repeat of overlapping keel arches also comes from this time . The church's carved crucifix dates from the middle of the 16th century and is attributed to the master HF with the ploughshare . The organ was built in 1869 by the organ builder Heerwagen . The bronze bell in the tower dates from 1774. There is also a picture of Luther from 1617 in the church.

Others

In the anteroom to the church there is the so-called doll , a signpost in the forms of rural classicism.
