geography

Punkewitz is west of Mertendorf on the opposite bank of the Wethau . The Loisch desert is in the corridor.

history

The place was first mentioned around 1030 in a document from Emperor Konrad II as "Buonkouvize". In 1186 the Ludowingian Landgrave Ludwig II of Thuringia transferred his possessions to Punkewitz with all justice and courts to the Pforta monastery . The Pforta monastery received the courts for the whole place, including the ban on blood , from Margrave Dietrich von Landsberg in 1272 .

After the secularization of the Pforta monastery in 1540, Punkewitz and the neighboring town of Mertendorf belonged to the Pforta educational authority as an exclave from 1543 to 1815 . However, the two exclave locations had to pay their tax shock to the administrative office of Weißenfels . By the resolutions of the Vienna Congress Punkewitz came to Prussia and in 1816 the county Naumburg in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which it belonged until the 1944th

The exact date of incorporation from Punkewitz to Mertendorf is unknown, but it happened before 1950. Since the merger of the communities of Görschen and Löbitz (including Großgestewitz ) with the community of Mertendorf on January 1, 2010, Punkewitz has been part of the new community of Mertendorf.
