geography
The village of Utenbach is located about 10 km southeast of Naumburg (Saale) an der Wethau . The state border with Thuringia runs 1000 m south of Utenbach.
history
Utenbach was first mentioned in a document in 1300. A local branch of the bars of Vargula was named after the place . The place belonged to the Wettin district office of Eisenberg , which was under the sovereignty of various Ernestine duchies due to several divisions in the course of its existence . In 1826 Utenbach came with the northern part of the Eisenberg district office from the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen and became part of the Camburg exclave. From 1922 to 1939 the place belonged to the Camburg district department , then to the Thuringian district of Stadtroda until 1948 , then briefly to the district of Jena . During the territorial reform of 1952 in the GDR , the place came to the Naumburg district in the Halle district , whereby its affiliation to Thuringia ended.
Until it was incorporated into the community of Löbitz on December 31, 2009 and with Löbitz (incl. Großgestewitz ) together to Mertendorf on January 1, 2010, Utenbach belonged to the administrative community of Wethautal as an independent community with the associated districts of Cauerwitz and Seiselitz . The last mayor of Utenbach was Friedhelm Duderstedt.
