Gieckau is a district of the municipality of Wethau in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Gieckau is about six kilometers southeast of Naumburg (Saale) . Pohlitz and Schmerdorf were designated as districts of the former municipality.
history
Gieckau was first mentioned in 1148 as Gieka .
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipality of Gieckau merged with the municipality of Wethau to form the new municipality of Wethau.
