The administrative community Wethautal was an administrative community in the Burgenlandkreis in the south of the state of Saxony-Anhalt . The seat of administration was Osterfeld . The communities Goldschau, Heidegrund, Meineweh, Osterfeld, Unterkaka and Waldau belonged to the Heidegrund administrative community until January 1, 2005 . On January 1st, 2008, the five municipalities Abtlöbnitz, Crölpa-Löbschütz, Janisroda, Leislau and Prießnitz from the dissolved administrative community Bad Kösen were added, so that the VG Wethautal comprised 22 municipalities.

The Higher Administrative Court of the State of Saxony-Anhalt suspended the incorporation of Abtlöbnitz, Crolpa-Löbschütz, Janisroda, Leislau, Prießnitz and Bad Kösen into the administrative community of Wethautal in an urgent procedure on December 29, 2006. The Bad Kösen administrative community initially remained in existence with six member communities until further notice. The judgment of the Higher Administrative Court of Magdeburg on December 11, 2007, to allow the allocation of VG Bad Kösen to that of the Wethautal for the rural communities of the Kurstadt-VG, but not for Bad Kösen itself, came by surprise to all involved . This resulted in the dissolution of VG Bad Kösen on December 31, 2007. A judgment by the OVG had become necessary after the VG Wethautal sued against the assignment and had it suspended.

The administrative community was dissolved on December 31, 2009. Most of the communities became part of the Wethautal Association .
