Bad Kösen administrative community

The administrative community Bad Kösen was an administrative community in the Burgenlandkreis in the south of the state of Saxony-Anhalt . In addition to the administrative seat of Bad Kösen, the municipalities of Abtlöbnitz , Crölpa-Löbschütz , Janisroda , Leislau and Prießnitz belong to it.

The administrative community had 6850 inhabitants (December 31, 2006) on an area of 65.57 km². The last head of the administrative community was Christoph Emus.

According to the decision of the State Administration Office of Saxony-Anhalt in October 2006, the administrative community was to be officially dissolved on December 31, 2006. Only the member communities Taugwitz and Möllern switched to the administrative community An der Finne . All other communities were to be transferred to the administrative community of Wethautal to the east (Osterfeld headquarters). VG Wethautal sued against the assignment.

The Higher Administrative Court of Saxony-Anhalt suspended the inclusion of Abtlöbnitz, Crölpa-Löbschütz, Janisroda, Leislau, Prießnitz and Bad Koesen in managing Community Wethautal in an emergency procedure on 29 December of 2006. The Bad Kösen administrative community remained in existence until further notice with six member communities.

In its final verdict on December 11, 2007, the Higher Administrative Court decided that the allocation of VG Bad Kösen to VG Wethautal, which was ordered in October 2006, is permissible for the five remaining rural communities, but not for Bad Kösen itself.

Thus the dissolution of the Verbandsgemeinde Bad Kösen took place at the end of December 31, 2007.

The spa town of Bad Kösen became a unified municipality from 2008. However, the number of inhabitants did not reach the threshold for further communal independence in Saxony-Anhalt.

On January 1st, 2010 Bad Kösen, Janisroda, Prießnitz and Crölpa-Löbschütz were incorporated into the city of Naumburg (Saale) . On the same day, the communities of Abtlöbnitz and Leislau joined the community of Molauer Land in the Wethautal community .
