Taugwitz has been a part of the municipality of Lanitz-Hassel-Tal in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt since July 1, 2009 . Until June 30, 2009 Taugwitz was an independent municipality. The last mayor was Karl Hohenstern.
geography
The village of Taugwitz is located between the cities of Apolda and Naumburg (Saale) at 216 meters above sea level. NN. It borders directly on the village of Poppel, which also belongs to the municipality of Lanitz - Hassel - Tal.
The districts of Rehehausen , Spielberg , Gernstedt , Hohndorf , Poppel , Benndorf and Zäckwar belonged to the former municipality of Taugwitz .
history
The villages Poppel and Taugwitz are Slavs settlements , as Rundlinge built around a place and watering hole. This happened after the Battle of Burgscheidungen in 531 to around 700. The field names are, however, German and are documented in the register of the Pforta monastery (Poppel 1271; Taugwitz 1307). The place originally belonged to the Counts of Beichlingen , who from 1307 to 1324 gradually transferred their property to the Pforta monastery. After the secularization of the Pforta monastery in 1540, Taugwitz belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office of Pforta from 1543 to 1815 . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna the place to Prussia came only in 1816 the district Naumburg in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which he belonged until 1944th
Incorporations
Gernstedt and Rehehausen belonged to Taugwitz since July 1, 1950. Spielberg with Benndorf, Hohndorf and Zäckwar was incorporated on October 17, 2004.

traffic
The federal road 87 , which leads from Apolda to Naumburg (Saale) , runs directly through the village . The ecumenical pilgrimage from Görlitz to Vacha leads through the districts of Spielberg, Zäckwar and Benndorf.
