history

Village square with peasant stone

Schleberoda was first mentioned in a document in 1308 as Slaverenrode , which means something like the clearing of a Sorb with the name Slavomir. The clearing settlement, which was founded as a dead-end street, came into direct dependence on the Kirchscheidungen manor in the late Middle Ages . The von Rockhausen family had owned the place since 1525 . In 1550 Levin and Mattes von Rockhausen had to hand over the jurisdiction on the Schleberoda field to the Freyburg office and kept it in the village (until 1748). The place was sold to the noble family von der Schulenburg on castle divisions and church divisions . The local history remained closely connected with that of the Schulenburg until the expropriation of the owner family in 1945.

By the resolutions of the Vienna Congress Schleberoda 1815 came to Prussia and in 1816 the county Querfurt in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which it belonged until the 1944th

In the village some typical farmhouses with barns made of rammed earth and several three-sided farms have survived the centuries. Worth seeing is u. a. also the church tower, which with its gable approach and the walled up triumphal arch refers to a much older building from the Romanesque . The baroque redesign of the nave took place in 1705. Johann Christoph Mocker built the organ into the church in 1750.

On July 1, 2009 Schleberoda was incorporated into the city of Freyburg (Unstrut).

traffic

The federal highway 176 , which leads from Weißenfels and Freyburg (Unstrut) , runs south of the village .
