Coat of arms of those of Rockhausen

The von Rockhausen family were a Thuringian- Upper Saxon noble family with possessions in Thuringia and in Naumburg Abbey . The headquarters was in the town of Rockhausen in Schwarzburg (about ten kilometers south of Erfurt ). The Genealogical Handbook of the Nobility names Rehehausen near Bad Sulza as the headquarters. But this is rather unlikely and, in contrast to Rockhausen, only vaguely documented.

history

The Kirchscheidungen manor , owned by the family from 1419 to 1748.

The von Rockhausen are mentioned for the first time in a document of donation from the year 1193/94 of Archbishop Konrad I of Mainz , where a Warnerus de Rouhenhausen (Rockenhausen) is mentioned among the witnesses . The von Rockhausen were also citizens of Erfurt and vassals of the Counts of Kevernburg and the Counts of Schwarzburg . According to a document dated August 15, 1240, Heinrich Graf von Schwarzburg, together with his knightly servants, including Elher von Rochus , made himself available to the Georgenthal Monastery as a guarantor for the keeping of a purchase contract with the latter. This document, in which the Rockhausens are mentioned there for the first time, is sealed by his relatives, brothers Günther Graf von Blankenburg , Günther Graf von Kevernburg and his brother Albert Graf zu Rabenswalde .

In 1349 they settled in the Unstruttal in Dorndorf and Weischütz near Freyburg . From 1419 to 1748 they were manor owners and court lords on church divisions . For a time they owned the village of Oeglitzsch . In 1904 the noble tribe of the von Rockhausen family died out in the male line.
