Dorndorf is a district of the town of Laucha an der Unstrut in the Burgenland district .

Dorndorf is probably a Franconian re-establishment from the 8th century. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1271. The first place Dorndorf is said to have been on the hill above the street Dorndorf-Gleina. The sovereignty of the place and the goods in it belonged to the Margraves of Meissen. From 1349 to 1692 they enfeoffed the von Rockhausen family , the owners of the Kirchscheidungen manor, with jurisdiction and the village of Dorndorf . The Office Freyburg but had throughout the spine Dorfer hall, which included 18 hooves, the right of tax collection, consequential, services, command and prohibition.
The village corridor bordered with Laucha, Weischütz , Gleina , Steigra , Karsdorf and Burgscheidungen .
Dorndorf was a branch of the church of Burgscheidungen.
Attractions
The village church of Dorndorf dates from the 18th century. The east tower was built in a square shape as early as the Romanesque period. It contains two bells from the Laucha bell foundry, manufactured in 1734 and 1826. Inside the church there is an imposing ceiling painting as well as a two-story wooden gallery and a pulpit altar from 1732.
Airfield
The Laucha-Dorndorf airfield is located on the Dorndorfer Plateau . This was opened in 1932 as a glider training facility after the excellent air sports conditions had been discovered two years before. In 1937 the airfield became the Reichssegelflugschule and, after the Second World War, the central gliding school of the Society for Sport and Technology . Today it is the regional airfield of the Burgenland district and southern Saxony-Anhalt and a center of air sports. It is based here: the Laucha-Dorndorf air sports club, the “Haus der Luftsportjugend eV” youth training center and the “Unstruttal” Gleina model flight club . The air athletes from various fields can their hobby as gliders , powered aircraft , microlight indulge, paragliders, model aircraft athletes and as a balloonist.
