Kirchscheidungen has been a district of Laucha an der Unstrut in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt since July 1, 2009 .

Kirchscheidungen lies between Freyburg (Unstrut) and Nebra on the Saale-Unstrut wine route. The Unstrut flows north of the village.

history

The place was first mentioned around 786 in the Breviarium Sancti Lulli and in the Hersfeld tithe list from 880 to 899 as "Scidinge". In a document dated October 31, 1294 it appears as "Kirchschidingen", later also as "Kerscheydingen". The place and the manor Kirchscheidungen located in it had an eventful history. Important owners were from 1230 to 1422 the knights who were called Knut (h) / Knaut (h) (plural: Knutonen ), from 1422 to 1692/1748 those of Rockhausen and 1746/48 to 1945 those of the Schulenburg on Burgscheidungen .

Manor

The Kirchscheidungen manor has a history of over eight hundred years. Its basic shape as a large four-sided courtyard with a representative manor house and surrounding farm buildings is still clearly recognizable today.

Local museum

In the old manor on Lohberg, in the former manor house, later the inspector's house, is Margitta Bier's studio with an exhibition of watercolors from several decades. There is also a home parlor with consumer goods and household items from four centuries of farming and housekeeping as well as everyday life. The in-house ostrich tavern , the wine cellar and the former dungeon are open to visitors.

In the village there is a monument to the church divisor Bernhard Thiersch (1793–1855), the poet of the Prussian song .

church

The church in the immediate vicinity dates from the 11th / 12th centuries. Century and was probably built at the behest of Bishop Otto I of Bamberg . The church was not built in an east-west direction as usual, but the choir faces northeast and the tower faces southwest. In the church there are epitaphs of the former manor owners and court lords of the von Rockhausen .

Federal road 250 runs to the west of the village , which leads from Eckartsberga via Bad Bibra to Querfurt , and federal road 176 from Freyburg (Unstrut) to Sömmerda to the south .

The Unstrutbahn runs through the village from Naumburg (Saale) to Nebra / Artern , which is served hourly by Abellio Rail Central Germany .

  • To the north of Kirchscheidungen the Unstrut flows from Nebra via Karsdorf past Kirchscheidungen on via Laucha, Freyburg to its confluence with the Saale near Naumburg. From Kirchscheidungen it is 19.2 km to the mouth. For water hikers there is a boat landing stage and a tent meadow with showers and toilets.
  • The Unstrut cycle path runs on the opposite side of the Unstrut, past Kirchscheidungen.
  • A wine tavern, a historic dungeon and the home parlor can be visited in the manor.
  • Directly on the Unstrut there is a canoe rental, a campsite and a tipi village.

economy

  • The Klaus Böhme winery is located in the lower village. The farm looks back on 300 years of agricultural and viticultural use. The farm has been working again since 1990.
