Zeuchfeld is a district of the city of Freyburg (Unstrut) in the Burgenlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

Zeuchfeld is located between Halle (Saale) and Weimar , near the city of Freyburg an der Unstrut .
Nestled between forest, vineyards and fields, the place is in a slight depression. This fact temporarily leads to problems with local flooding.

The hill in the south is popularly known as the "Naumburger Berg". There was a limestone quarry and a cherry plantation there.

history

Zeuchfeld is in a certificate from King Otto III. first mentioned in a document on January 19, 991 as Zuchibuli . The ancient royal road Via Regia , also called strata regia, led through Zeuchfeld until a stone bridge was built in Bad Kösen (construction period 1368–1404).

Until 1815 the place belonged to the Wettin , later Electoral Saxon office of Freyburg . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna he came to Prussia and in 1816 the county Querfurt in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which he belonged until 1944th

The C Company ("Charly") of the 777th Battalion of the 69th US Infantry Division reached Zeuchfeld on April 11, 1945 on its way east.

Zeuchfeld was incorporated into Freyburg (Unstrut) on July 1, 2009.

education

There was a school in town until around 1950. The former school building is made of stone and half-timbering and is one of the largest buildings in town. Today it serves as a residential building. Today, students commute to Freyburg for primary and secondary education and further afield for further education.

Culture and leisure

There are two clubs in the village. The Zeuchfelder Pfingstburschen eV organize, among other things, Whitsun celebrations. The Heimat und Kulturverein Zeuchfeld eV organizes, among other things, wine tastings and a Christmas market.

The "Göhleweg" leads through Zeuchfeld. It is marked with a red cross and begins in Freyburg at Jahnplatz and leads over Schützenstraße - Schlifterberg - Burgholzweg - Sühnekreuz - Alte Göhle - Zeuchfeld - Branderoda - Ebersroda - Neue Göhle - and the Galgenberg to the Bodelschwinghdenkmal in the north-west of Freyburg.

politics

The honorary mayor Wolfgang Koschel was elected for the first time on June 12, 1994 and held the office until the incorporation.

traffic

The federal highway 176 runs right on the outskirts. It leads west to Freyburg and east to Weißenfels , where it connects Zeuchfeld with the A9 motorway .

The village is connected with the cities of Freyburg and Laucha to most of the surrounding towns by bus lines number 630 and 634 from PVG Burgenlandkreis mbH .

economy

Only a few residents still work in agriculture in the fields around the village. Two wineries work from Zeuchfeld, as it is part of the wine-growing areas of the Saale-Unstrut region . Besides this traditional area, most of the residents are commuters, they work in the cities of the region and beyond. But also some independent small businesses have their headquarters in Zeuchfeld, z. B. in the field of electrical installation, tiling and flooring as well as landscaping, as well as a general practitioner.
