geography

The former small (6.69 km²) rural community of Baumersroda is located on the Querfurter Platte, about 200 m above sea level, between Müelte in Geiseltal and Freyburg an der Unstrut . The Querfurter Platte is one of the largest loess black earth areas in Saxony-Anhalt.

history

Settlement around Baumersroda probably began at the end of the 11th century or the beginning of the 12th century. The church tower in Baumersroda is a building from the 12th century. The current nave was not added to the east side of the church tower until the middle of the 17th century. The settlements on the Querfurter Platte, whose names usually end in -roda, were created due to clearing by Slavic settlers at the end of the 11th and beginning of the 12th century. The area, also known as the Thuringian border plate, was almost completely covered with forest in the 8th century. The first documentary mention was made in July / August 1185.

In 1589, 42 possessed men lived here, including 8 Anspänner and 34 Hintersättler. The village corridor then comprised 22¾ hooves. Originally, the inhabitants of the village were all subject to obligation to the district court in Müuellen .

Until 1815 Baumersroda was an official village in the Saxon office of Freyburg . According to the official inheritance books from 1594 and 1621, the Freyburg office had five regional courts. The Ebersroda branch belonged to the Baumersroda church. The village corridor bordered the Newe Johla , Gleina , Müelte and Ebersroda .

The manor house in Baumersroda, which still exists today, was built between 1704 and 1709. At that time the manor was owned by Hans Georg from the Winckel . He bought the Baumersroda manor on April 20, 1704 from Hans Moritz von Brühl , father of Heinrich von Brühl, for 19500 guilders and fundamentally renovated the manor house. As major general, Johann (Hans) Georg from the Winckel also acquired the two neighboring manors Benndorf and Körbisdorf in 1718 . When he died in 1729, he left an extensive estate to his heirs. In 1737 Wilhelm Busso Marschall von Bieberstein acquired the Baumersroda manor, but he soon got into debt and in 1744 had to leave the manor to the guardian of the only five-year-old Heinrich Moritz von der Schulenburg on castle divisions . 1825–1828 the manor Baumersroda was briefly owned by the von Jagow family before Heinrich Ferdinand von Helldorff on Bedra in 1828 acquired it.

From 1828 to 1945 the von Helldorff family shaped life in and around Baumersroda. From March 19, 1859 to around 1862, Braunsbedra was the capital of the Querfurt district ( Province of Saxony ).

In April 1945 the Americans marched into Baumersroda without a fight and later surrendered the village to the Soviet Army, which did not occupy Baumersroda. Before the Americans left Baumersroda, the von Helldorff family (Elisabeth von Helldorff, née von Bülow, and their son Christoph Heinrich) left the town and their family home for the west. The manor of the former manor was plundered and the von Helldorff family was expropriated with all their possessions due to the land reform initiated by the SMAD .

On July 1, 2009 Baumersroda lost its independence on the basis of a territorial change agreement with the municipality of Gleina.

politics

mayor

Oswald Bauer was a village school in Baumersroda from 1935 to 1941. Hugo Kloß was mayor of the community from 1941 to 1946.

The last local elections under a GDR government ended Kurt Engler's term of office. In 1990 Bernd Wölflein was elected mayor from among the members of the local council. In 1994 Joachim Bölke replaced Bernd Wölflein as mayor of the Baumersroda community. From 2001 to December 31, 2002, Bernd Wölflein was once again mayor of the community and resigned from his honorary position in 2002 for health reasons. From January 1, 2003 to January 14, 2006 Joachim Bölke (†) was again mayor of the municipality of Baumersroda. After the death of Joachim Bölke on January 14, 2006, until the inauguration of the new mayor following a new election (on April 9, 2006), Peter Rabestein was in charge of the affairs of the honorary mayor of the community.

On April 9, 2006, Peter Rabestein was elected mayor by the citizens of Baumersroda, with a turnout of 50%. He officially took office on June 1, 2006.

Peter Rabestein's term of office ended on June 30th, 2009 between the municipality of Gleina and the former municipality of Baumersroda on the basis of a territorial change agreement of November 19th, 2008, approved on February 4th, 2009 due to the incorporation into Gleina.

Culture and sights

Buildings

Water tower in Baumersroda

In addition to the church tower built in the 12th century, Baumersroda has a landmark, a former water tower that was built around 1906 in connection with a central water supply for Baumersroda, as well as a former manor whose last owners, the von Helldorff family, before 1945 Victory powers of the Second World War fled to the western part of Germany. The flag of the Federal Republic of Germany has been flying on the former water tower since December 1989 and is visible from afar.

Clubs and associations

Baumersroda is characterized by three associations, the allotment gardeners association, sports association and fire brigade association, and one association, The Whitsun Boys. After 1989, the Whitsun boys and the fire brigade association continue to maintain tradition and cultural customs in cooperation with the volunteer fire brigade.

Fire Brigade Association 1993 Baumersroda e. V.

On October 2, 1993, members of the Baumersroda Volunteer Fire Brigade and citizens of the Baumersroda community founded the Baumersroda Fire Brigade Association 1993 on the occasion of the reunification of the GDR and the Federal Republic of Germany (October 3, 1990). The association is a support association of the fire brigade and a homeland association in search of the past.

In the meantime it can be safely assumed that there has been a fire brigade (sprayer team, water team) organized and financed by the community in Baumersroda (Dominium Baumersroda) since 1854 (July 21, 1854).

Economy and Infrastructure

Small service and craft businesses are based in Baumersroda. The jobs in agriculture, the food industry and lignite mining that existed before 1989 have collapsed. The traffic infrastructure is at the level of 1950. In the field of supply and disposal, however, a lot has happened in Baumersroda since 1995. Telecommunications , the sewage and, in some cases, the drinking water supply are at a new level. However, the already poor traffic infrastructure was further damaged by the sewage and drinking water construction measures. Even after the reunification of Germany, there is a lack of own funds for the preservation of buildings and objects worthy of protection in the private as well as in the public sector, despite state funding.

traffic

Landesstraße  209 leads through Baumersroda , which has been expanded from Baumersroda to the east to Landesstraße 163. In 2016, the western section between Baumersroda and Gleina , the connection to the B 180 , was expanded. Via the L 163 in the east of Baumersroda or the B 180 in the west of Baumersroda you get to the federal highway 176 (B 176).

The local connecting road between Baumersroda and Ebersroda received a new asphalt surface after 1990. You can reach Kreisstraße 2642 at Ebersroda via this street and then get to the B 180 via the Kreisstraße.

Personalities

Others

Agriculture on huge fertile fields around Baumersroda continue to shape the landscape after 1990. The fertile soil, once cultivated by individual production cooperatives, is now shared by agricultural cooperatives, resettlers and managers of small private areas. Only a few residents of the village are still employed in agriculture, the youth are emigrating, the average age of the population is rising and the rural farms are losing their former importance and begin to partially decay where they were not converted and expanded for purposes other than those for which they were intended. Baumersroda lost the image of a ring settlement ( Rundling ) by the middle of the 20th century at the latest due to a lack of urban planning and neglected monument protection. The small island-like tree population around Baumersroda hardly suggests that the entire area was once covered by forest. The first clearing around Baumersroda by settlers began around the 12th century.
