history

On July 25, 1952, there was an extensive administrative reform in the GDR , during which, among other things, the states of the GDR lost their importance and new districts were established. The then district of Querfurt was reduced by roughly half: it gave the communities Altenroda , Balgstädt , Baumersroda , Burgscheidungen , Ebersroda , Freyburg (Unstrut) , Gleina , Golzen , Hirschroda , Karsdorf , Kirchscheidungen , Krawinkel , Laucha an der Unstrut , Müncheroda , Nebra (Unstrut) , Nißmitz , Plößnitz , Reinsdorf , Schleberoda , Thalwinkel , Tröbsdorf , Wangen , Weischütz , Wennungen , Wetzendorf , Zeuchfeld and Zscheiplitz to the new Nebra district ; the three communities Bottendorf , Roßleben and Schönewerda came to the new district Artern . The new Querfurt district with its seat in Querfurt was formed from the remaining district area . The district was assigned to the newly formed Halle district .

On May 17, 1990, the district was renamed the District of Querfurt. On the occasion of the reunification of the two German states, the district of Querfurt was awarded to the re-established state of Saxony-Anhalt in October 1990 . During the first district reform in Saxony-Anhalt , it was dissolved on July 1, 1994. It went mainly in the district of Merseburg-Querfurt , only the communities Hornburg, Osterhausen and Rothenschirmbach came to the district of Mansfelder Land ; the Dornstedt community was incorporated into the Saalkreis .
