Oechlitz is a district of the city of Müuellen (Geiseltal) in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

geography

Oechlitz lies between Erfurt and Halle (Saale) on the edge of the Querfurter Platte . The Oechlitzer Bach flows through the village and flows into the Stöbnitz in the east.

history

The municipality was first mentioned in a document in 1286 . A knightly family of the same name from Oechlitz had their ancestral home in the village. The coat of arms with the three wolf heads still testifies to this today. The lower part of Oechlitz used to be called Hayndorf and is older. In a resulting 881 to 899 directory of the tithe of the monastery Hersfeld Hayndorf is as tenth place requiring Heiendorpf in Fries field first mentioned.

Until 1815, Oechlitz belonged to the Wettin , later Electoral Saxon office of Freyburg . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna the place to Prussia came only in 1816 the county Querfurt in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which he belonged until 1944th

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Schmirma was incorporated.

From 1992 to 2009 Oechlitz belonged to the administrative community of Upper Geiseltal . Until it was incorporated into Müelte (Geiseltal) on January 1, 2010, Oechlitz was an independent municipality with the associated district of Schmirma . The last mayor of Oechlitz was Siegmar Böhme. Today the district in Müelte is represented by Yvette Barth.

West of Oechlitz, the federal highway 180 runs from Querfurt to Naumburg (Saale) .

The new Erfurt – Leipzig / Halle line leads north past Oechlitz, the 297 m long Stöbnitztalbrücke serves to cross the valley of the same name.
