Hop oil
Hop oil is an essential oil that is 0.2% to 1.7% in hops . The hop oil is formed in the hop glands (lupulin) and gives the hops their characteristic aroma . Hop oil consists of over 300 known and unknown aroma components as well as over 2000 different chemical compounds :

Terpene hydrocarbons (about 75% of the total oil) |
Oxy compounds (about 25% of the total oil) |

Monoterpenes : myrcene |
Sesquiterpenes : humulene (α-caryophyllene), β- caryophyllene |

Myrcene occupies a special position among the components of hop oil. It is easily volatile and oxidizable, it gives the hop aroma the sharpness and can later give the beer a rough and ignoble nuance .
