The Walmendingerhornbahn is a mountain railway in Mittelberg in the Kleinwalsertal . The valley station is located at 1207 m above sea level. A. not far from the Mittelberg village center. The track ends shortly before the summit of the Walmendingerhorn at 1948 m above sea level. A.
The Walmendingerhornbahn belongs to the Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahn (KBB), Riezlern , whose main shareholders are the Allgäuer Überlandwerk and the Raiffeisen Holding Kleinwalsertal .
winter
The approximately ten kilometers of slopes (including approximately 4.2 km of valley descent) are aimed more at experienced winter sports enthusiasts.
The relatively small ski area is an insider tip for many , which explains the high proportion of locals and Allgäu residents. The short waiting times, the more demanding slopes and the off-piste routes, which are particularly attractive when there is fresh snow, speak for themselves.
Lift systems
There have been ski lifts on the Walmendingerhorn since 1968. The Muttelberg T-bar lift was first built by the Doppelmayr company . For a long time this was considered one of the steepest in Vorarlberg. In 1999, this was replaced by a fixed-grip four-person chairlift, also from Doppelmayr. The route was largely retained.
In 1972 the "Walmendingerhorn" double chairlift was built by the Doppelmayr company.
gastronomy
There is a restaurant right in the mountain station of the Walmendingerhornbahn; However, there are also inns with products from the in-house Alpine farm.
technology
The Walmendingerhornbahn from Mittelberg to the summit of the Walmendingerhorn was built between 1964 and 1966 as a two-cable aerial tramway according to the Bleichert-Zuegg system by the Pohlig-Heckel-Bleichert (PHB) company, with two carriages of 40 + 1 people each on a suspension cable as a track be moved up and down with the help of a pull rope. The electric drive ( Brown, Boveri & Cie. , BBC) is located in the mountain station, while the weight tensioning devices for the operating ropes are located in the valley station. The guiding of the counter rope from the track to the tension rope tension weight appears to be remarkable and different from the previous designs. As a result, an extremely favorable utilization of the tensioning shaft cross-section is achieved by arranging the tensioning weights for the suspension cables and for the pulling cable next to one another.
