geography

Branderoda lies between Weißenfels and Querfurt on the border with Burgenlandkreis .

history

The earliest documented mentions of the place are in 1366 in a "Chronicle of the Pforta Monastery according to documentary news" and in 1400 in an interest register of the Diocese of Halberstadt . The Branderoda corridor originally bordered Gröst , Müelte (Geiseltal) , the Newen Jöhla and Zeuchfeld .

In the Middle Ages, Branderoda was a branch of the Church of Gröst.

In 1518 Sebastian, Georg and Wolf v. Benndorf on Branderoda. "From 1518 - 75 the family (most recently Thimo v. Benndorf) owned Branderode near Freiburg"

In 1589, 28 possessed men lived in the village, including 5 coaches and 23 rear passengers . The higher and inheritance courts in the village and field belonged to the owner of the knight's seat in the village. In 1589 this was Nicol Schlegel and in 1612 Zacharias Schlegel.

In 1630 Christoph Felgenhauer was enfeoffed with the manor.

Other manor owners were

Quote: “The Counts von der Schulenburg were from 23.09. expropriated by the land reform until 10.10.1945. ... The property of Adelbert Karl Werner Graf von der Schulenburg, expropriated without compensation, amounted to 787 ha (981 ha?) In Burgscheidungen in 1945 , 212 ha in Kirchscheidungen and 443 ha in Branderoda (47 ha of which were forest). … Mrs. Rose Wätjen, b. On October 5th, 1945, Countess von der Schulenburg, on behalf of her father Adelbert Karl Werner Graf von der Schulenburg, applied to the provincial government of Saxony for a special permit to leave him 100 hectares of his property, if possible the Branderoda estate. This request was rejected. "

Until 1815 Branderoda was an official village of the Saxon office Freyburg and then came to Prussia.

Before 1952, the place belonged to what was then the Querfurt district. From 1952 to 1994 the community belonged to the district of Nebra. Since the district and territorial reform in 1994, it has been in the Merseburg-Querfurt district. On January 1, 2006 the incorporation to Müelte took place.

Attractions

Manor of the manor

The main attraction of the place is the 12th century church with the Romanesque baptismal font. After a fire that destroyed it, it was enlarged and rebuilt. In the 16th century it experienced a profound renewal. A special feature is the mansion chairs that can be reached via a separate entrance. In this patronage box , the walls are decorated with painted canvas. There used to be three bells in the tower, but only one remains, dating from the 14th century. It is described with minuscules , which is very rare, if not unique, in Germany.

Further sights are the manor house of the manor, the birth house of the poet and children's book author Adolf Holst as well as the diverse flora and fauna in and around Branderoda with numerous orchid species and other protected plants and animals.

Also worth seeing are the head linden on the Distelberg south of the locality of Branderoda, rare evidence of almost forgotten cultivation and uses of the native linden trees.

So far, the meaning and use of the large stones that can be found in prominent places in the area remains a mystery. It is unclear whether these are some kind of peasant stones or rider stones that served as climbing aids for riders.

societies

There are several options for recreational activities in the village. Many club members are often in several clubs at the same time.
