The district of Quedlinburg was a district in the Halle district of the GDR . From 1990 it existed as the district of Quedlinburg in the state of Saxony-Anhalt . His area is now in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt. The seat of the district administration was in Quedlinburg .

geography

The district of Quedlinburg was located in the north-eastern Harz foreland and the Bode flowed through it. It bordered clockwise in the north, beginning with the districts of Halberstadt , Aschersleben , Hettstedt , Sangerhausen and Wernigerode .

history

On July 25, 1952, there was an extensive administrative reform in the GDR , during which, among other things, the states of the GDR lost their importance and new districts were established. The then district of Quedlinburg gave municipalities to the districts of Aschersleben , Staßfurt and Wernigerode . The new district of Quedlinburg with its seat in Quedlinburg was formed from the remaining district area . The district was assigned to the newly formed Halle district .

On May 17, 1990, the district was renamed Landkreis. On the occasion of the reunification of the two German states, the district of Quedlinburg was awarded to the re-established state of Saxony-Anhalt in October 1990 . During the first district reform in Saxony-Anhalt on July 1, 1994, it was enlarged by several communities in the Aschersleben district . At the same time, he ceded several communities to the Wernigerode district . On July 1, 2007, the district of Quedlinburg became part of the new district of Harz.

License Plate

With the establishment of the districts from mid-1953, the occupation zone numbers were replaced by new vehicle number plates. The old license plates had to be replaced by January 31, 1954. Each district received a letter. In the district hall and thus the circle Quedlinburg it was the K . The second letter and the four digits were consecutive. As early as the end of the 1950s, it had become necessary in some districts to introduce a second letter. This was the V in the Halle district . Since the variations were again insufficient in the course of the early 1970s, with effect from October 1, 1974, in addition to the previous number plates, those with three letters and three digits were also introduced. In the Quedlinburg district, these began with KT and VT . The first letter continued to stand for the Halle district, while the T indicated that the vehicle was registered in the Quedlinburg district. From January 1, 1991, only license plates were issued according to the system of the Federal Republic. In the district of Quedlinburg, these showed the letters QLB at the front . The GDR license plates lost their validity with effect from January 1, 1994.

An exception were motorcycles, for which license plates were given with two letters and four digits. The last number plate series used for motorcycles was VU 00-01 to VU 99-99 .
