Timmenrode is a district of the town of Blankenburg (Harz) in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .
Geographical location
Timmenrode is located in the northern Harz, southeast of the city of Blankenburg (Harz), on the state road to Thale , from which further connecting roads to Wienrode branch off at the federal road 81 and the Blankenburg district of Helsungen . The nature reserve and excursion destination Teufelsmauer stretches north-west of the village . The rock formations of the Hamburg coat of arms , Teufelsloch and cowsheds are popular excursion destinations near Timmenrode. The Jordanbach flows through Timmenrode.
climate
The annual precipitation is 490 mm and is extremely low as it falls in the lower twentieth of the values recorded in Germany. Lower values are registered at 2% of the German Weather Service's measuring stations . The driest month is February, with the most rainfall in June. In June there is 2.1 times more rainfall than in February. The rainfall varies moderately. Lower seasonal fluctuations are recorded at 39% of the measuring stations.
history
Timmenrode was first mentioned in a document in 1199. The village was the property of the Counts of Blankenburg-Regenstein , whose ministerial probably the location, near the place Kuxburg than waiting used. The counts died out in 1599, whereby Timmenrode passed into the possession of the Duke of Braunschweig . Two major fires almost completely destroyed the place in 1567 and 1723.
Until 1945 Timmenrode belonged to the Braunschweig district of Blankenburg , in 1952 the place came to the district of Quedlinburg of the GDR district of Halle (Saale) . Only after the political change in 1989 Timmenrode came to the district of Wernigerode , which was added to the district of Harz on July 1, 2007.
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipality of Timmenrode was incorporated into the city of Blankenburg (Harz) together with the municipalities of Heimburg , Hüttenrode , Wienrode and Cattenstedt and the city of Derenburg .

traffic
From 1907 the railway line from Blankenburg to Quedlinburg via Thale Bodetal (so - called Quäke ) ran through the village . While passenger traffic was stopped in 1973, there was still freight traffic for the Thale ironworks until 1993. After there were special trips with historical steam trains again in April and May 1994, the owner EHW Thale started to dismantle the track systems from Timmenrode to Thale that same year. The tracks in the direction of Blankenburg can still be seen in some places today.
