Others

Entrance to the Michaelstein train station from the east

The Michaelstein Monastery is located in the Michaelstein area .

In addition, there is the disused limestone quarry at Mönchemühlenteich , a geotope with formations from the Lower Muschelkalk and the Lower Campan .

Michaelstein also has a train station, which is less than 1 km away on a hill on the Staufenberg . Since December 2005, the station is no longer served by passengers. This station, formerly called "Bast Michaelstein", is part of the Rübelandbahn and designed as a hairpin . The unusually long track lengths of 450 m are due to the expansion of the line in the 1960s, as very long freight trains (lime transports) ran on the Rübelandbahn. The operational management has been simplified after the installation of fallback switches . The trains generally run with push-pull locomotives and no longer need to be bypassed. The brake test is also omitted .
