Siptenfelde is a district of the town of Harzgerode in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Siptenfelde is located in the eastern Lower Harz on the Harzhochstraße, the federal highway 242 between Güntersberge and the town of Harzgerode . Siptenfelde is connected to the two places by bus line 254 of the Harz transport company .

history

It was first mentioned as a royal palatinate in 936 together with Bodfeld in a document from King Otto I as Sipponfeldon . Further mentions are from 961 in two Ottonenurkunde from July 15th and 25th concerning the village Sippanuelth . This was to the right of the Uhlenbach where the B 242 crosses the Uhlenbachtal today . 2 km up the valley, in 1888 and 2014 in the forest village of Münchehöfe, the remains of a fortified medieval complex were excavated, which are associated with the Ottonian Palatinate (Jagdhof) Predium Haskenroth and a presumed desertification of the village of Esekenrode - a foundation of the Marienthal monastery.

In 961 King Otto I confirmed the donation of Siptenfeld to the free world monastery of St. Servatius in Quedlinburg. Around five and a half centuries later, it was still part of the Quedlinburg monastery property as an estate loaned to the Counts of Regenstein. This transferred it in 1526 as an after-fief to the Harzgeröder Wolf von Röder. In 1609 Prince Christian I von Anhalt-Bernburg bought the demarcation of the deserted village from the Rödern for 4842 guilders. The area was used for appropriate fees and services from farmers in the surrounding villages.

In 1663, Prince Friedrich von Anhalt-Harzgerode arranged for the village to be rebuilt around 1 km west of the desert, which the ruins of the church tower had reminded of around 1610. While the newly founded Siptenfelde only had 13 settlers in 1668, the number of inhabitants in the church and parish village rose to 484 by 1795, residing in 82 houses. In 1900 642 people lived here. Even in the 17th century, the prince had a Vorwerk can create (domain) with sheep, which was privatized in the 19th century and later dissolved. The St. Paulus Church, consecrated in 1685 with its octagonal half-timbered building, is a specialty. In the last decades of the 18th century, the promotion of flour ( fluorspar ) was started on Brachmannsberg, which was followed by a new edition at the end of the GDR.

In 1767, numerous Siptenfelder took part in the conspiracy in the Principality of Anhalt-Bernburg, which wanted to achieve a reduction in the tax burden. In March 1848 the residents of Siptenfeld, together with the Lindenbergers, drafted a 21-point petition in which they demanded the dissolution of the domain, the return of the forest pasture and consideration of social issues. In 1883 the local volunteer fire brigade was founded and in 1903 it received a new syringe house . In 1908 the fire brigade had 43 members.

On August 1, 2009, the municipality of Siptenfelde merged with the towns of Güntersberge and Harzgerode and the communities of Dankerode , Königerode , Schielo and Straßberg to form the new town of Harzgerode. The population of the village was 496 at the end of 2016.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on April 15, 1998 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Blazon : “In green, an uprooted silver fir; the trunk is surrounded by two seated golden hares facing each other. "

The colors of the parish are silver (white) - green.

Earlier designs of coats of arms already take up the motif. The green conifer with the two rabbits sitting underneath it already appears in designs in connection with earlier community festivals and can also be found in emblems that are used by local associations. In terms of content, the conifer indicates the location of the municipality in the Harz region and, in a general sense, is symbolic of the idea of nature. The two rabbits should refer to the place name Siptenfelde in an eloquent way, since the inhabitants of the community are represented in dialect with their nickname “Sipten” in the understanding of “Bachhase”.

The coat of arms was designed by the municipal heraldist Frank Jung .
