Gatterstädt is a district of the city of Querfurt ( Saalekreis ) in Saxony-Anhalt . Gatterstädt currently has around 650 residents.
history
The history of the place can be traced back about 1000 years. In 1054 the Romanesque chapel of St. Petri was built. In the Middle Ages, the place belonged to the rule of Querfurt and came after the extinction of the noblemen of Querfurt in 1496 as the office of Querfurt to the Archdiocese of Magdeburg , from which it came to the Electorate of Saxony in 1635 .
As a result of the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the office came to Prussia and was transformed into the Querfurt district , to which Gatterstädt also belonged. This changed several times in the next 180 years (see also Querfurt district ), but Gatterstädt always remained part of it and in 1994 came to the newly formed district of Merseburg-Querfurt , which in turn was merged with the Saalkreis to form the new Saalekreis in 2007 .
In the years 1853 to 1856, the new, much larger St. Georg Church was built 600 meters west of the old church on Kleine Straße. By the early 1930s, the settlement developed into a village with over 1000 inhabitants with a mill, smithy, inn ( Zum Weißen Roß ), manor houses ( Ruhmersches Gut , Oberhof ) and farmhouses (see also the list of cultural monuments in Querfurt ).
Since May 11, 1995, Gatterstädt has been a district of the former district town of Querfurt, about 3 kilometers away .
economy
There are extensive orchards in Gatterstädt, and the Gatterstädter cherries are very well known. The arable and fruit areas extend over 1,400 hectares. There is also a large sheet metal processing plant in Gatterstädt.
Transport links
The federal highways 180 and 250 are 2 and 4 kilometers away from the village. With the completion of the federal motorway 38 in early 2009, Gatterstadt's accessibility has improved significantly.
Village festival
The annual park festival, which takes place on the last weekend in June, is a special highlight of the year. The whole weekend is all about cozy get-togethers with a supporting program in Gatterstadt Park. In addition, sporting comparisons take place on the soccer field and the bowling alley at this time.
societies
The Gatterstädter Sportverein is the largest club in Gatterstädt with around 100 members. There are currently the bowling and soccer departments. In addition, the Gatterstädt volunteer fire department achieved excellent results in comparison with other fire departments in the district. The Heimatverein founded in 2009 organizes various highlights and joint events for the community residents and guests.
