Projects

Blur Building at the Swiss National Exhibition 2002.

Together with Scofidio, Diller designs new and alternative architectural concepts. You do not concentrate exclusively on architecture, but also deal with various media and in particular with photography and video installations. Design elements are combined in a completely new way. Outstanding projects include Moving Target , a dance project from 1996 and the redesign of the Brasserie , a restaurant on the basement floor of the Seagram Building , which received the James Beard Foundation Award for the best new restaurant design in 2000. The Blur Building pavilion attracted worldwide attention at the Swiss National Exhibition in 2002 . The building envelope for this pavilion was created solely by finely sprayed water mist. For this design Diller and Scofidio received the Progressive Design Award . In 2006 the new building of the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston was completed according to designs by Diller Scofidio + Renfro . In 2009 the office redesigned Alice Tully Hall in the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts as well as a section of the so-called High Line , a disused railway line.

In 2007, DS + R presented a previously unrealized design for a technologically highly complex eco-house.

The Broad Art Museum opened in Los Angeles in 2015 . In 2017, the office presented the design for the movable roofing of a park on the west side of Manhattan, entitled The Shed (German: Das Wetterdach). The Shed opened in New York in 2019 .
