Wetzendorf (Karsdorf)
Wetzendorf is a village in the northern Burgenland district (Saxony-Anhalt) on the right bank of the Unstrut . It extends along the old wine route. Wetzendorf has been part of the Karsdorf community since 1957 .
history
The place that emerged as a street village along the old wine route is first mentioned in a document in 1061 as Widesendorp , that is, the village of a Widiso. Wetzendorf belonged to the rule Wiehe and came with this 1539 to the Lords of Werther on Beichlingen . In the place there was a manor that was under the owners of Nebra .
The noble family of Wetzendorf , which has been attested since 1061, comes from the place. It appears for the last time in the year 1349/50 in the feudal book of Friedrich des Strengen , when a "Johannes von Wetzendorf" as feudal bearer of the margrave got his possession confirmed.
The court border against the Freyburg office ran from the “Katzelholz” in the middle of the Unstrut and the Unstrut Bridge near Karsdorf to the Wennunger Flur. The sheep farm in Wetzendorf also had a residential building, for which Karsdorf provided horse chafing, handfron and construction services. Count Jakob Heinrich von Flemming was allowed to build a tavern or an inn in 1718 "for the convenience of travelers".
Wetzendorf has been a district of Karsdorf since 1957. In 1994 a 3000 year old female skeleton, which was named "Wetzi" , was excavated. In addition, settlement remains from this time were recovered.
The center of the village is the church of St. Kilian in neo-Romanesque style, which was rebuilt in 1867. It contains an organ from the Heerwagen workshop, built in 1868 .
In the period from 1955 to 1985, the so-called "New Village" was built in the Wetzendorf district. This residence with a provincial character is an example of a socialist village design during the times of the GDR.
traffic
Federal road 250 , which leads from Eckartsberga and Querfurt , runs west of the municipality, and federal road 180 runs in the east , which also leads from Naumburg (Saale) to Querfurt. Karsdorf on the left bank of the Unstrut is located with a stop on the Unstrut Railway from Naumburg to Artern .
The new Erfurt – Leipzig / Halle line runs across the 2668 m long Unstruttal bridge north past the town.
