The oldest written reports about Körbisdorf come from the years 1316 and 1318. In the late Middle Ages, the place appears first as Korbestorff, then as Korwestoprh, Koruestorph and then as Korbisdorf. The Körbisdorf form did not gain acceptance until the 17th century. At the end of the 19th century, Körbisdorf increasingly merged with the neighboring towns of Benndorf and Naundorf. In 1856 a large sugar factory was built between Körbisdorf and Naundorf, and later residential buildings. In 1871 the local manor was transferred to the Körbisdorf AG sugar factory. In 1926 the sugar factory was closed. IG Farbenindustrie took over their assets on July 1, 1937 .

After the Leunawerke became the owner of the Otto mine in 1918, large-scale lignite mining began. Since 1918, Körbisdorf had a connection to the Merseburg – Müuellen tram line .

On April 1, 1937, Benndorf, Körbisdorf and Naundorf were united to form the municipality of Benndorf / Geiseltal.
