Kämmeritz (Geiseltal)

Kämmeritz (historically also: Cämmeritz) is a modern desert in the former Merseburg-Querfurt district in Saxony-Anhalt . It was destroyed by lignite mining in the Geiseltal .

Geographical location

Kämmeritz was in the Geiseltal northeast of Krumpa . Neighboring towns were Lützkendorf in the west and Geiselröhlitz in the east. The former town hall is now in the south of the Geiseltalsee .

history

In 1718 the village church of Kämmeritz was built, with an early Gothic tower from a previous building being included. Cämmeritz, later also written as Kämmeritz, belonged to the Wettin , later Electoral Saxon office of Freyburg until 1815 .
