Petzkendorf

Petzkendorf is a modern desert in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt . It was created by mining lignite in the Geiseltal .

Geographical location

Petzkendorf was in the Geiseltal northwest of Braunsbedra . Neighboring towns were Kämmeritz in the northwest, Geiselröhlitz in the north and Neumark in the east and south. The former town hall is now on the southern edge of the Geiseltalsee .

Petzkendorf belonged to the Wettin , later Electoral Saxon office of Freyburg until 1815 .
