Kleinkayna

Kleinkayna is a modern desert in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt . It was destroyed by lignite mining in the Geiseltal .

Geographical location

Kleinkayna was east of Braunsbedra . Neighboring towns were Großkayna in the north and Braunsdorf in the west. The former local corridor is today in the northwest of the Südfeldsee (Großkaynaer See).

history

Until 1815, Kleinkayna belonged partly to the Wettin and later Electoral Saxon offices of Freyburg and Weißenfels . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna the place to Prussia came only in 1816 the county Weissenfels in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony assigned to which he belonged until 1944th

In the course of lignite mining in the Geisel small Kayna was moved to a part of Großkayna in 1963 and dredged 1966 ( devastated ). The old town hall was destroyed by the Kayna-Süd opencast mine .
