Turbo beer (own notation: TURBO BEER) is a punk - / rock - band from the 11th district of Vienna Simmering . The concept and songwriter is singer and guitarist Marco Pogo, who performs live with a changing line-up.
history
The band released their first music video, I lifted an Koda, in January 2014. After more clips had been published on YouTube , Turbobier played its first concerts in Austria in the following months. In July 2014, the song Arbeitslos durch den Tag , a parody of Helene Fischer's hit Atemlos durch die Nacht , quickly became a YouTube hit and has received over a million views to date. This brought media presence on ZDF , the Bild-Zeitung , the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the Kurier as well as ORF and ATV . Three cover stories in the Wiener Bezirkszeitung followed. In April 2015, unemployed was published in the entire German-speaking area by the day after approval by the author Kristina Bach . This song can also be found on the debut album 'Irokesentango', which was released on Warner Music Central Europe in June 2015. The album cover was a photo montage by Vienna's Mayor Michael Häupl with a mohawk and stinky finger, which provoked criticism from the SPÖ . So far the band has been to the Wacken Open Air , Nova Rock , Summer Breeze , the Frequency Festival , the Open Flair and the Szene Openair .
At the Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2016 they were honored in the category Hard & Heavy , in 2018 the band was nominated again in this category.
On January 27, 2017, the band's second album, Das Neue Festament , was released on singer Marco Pogo's newly founded label - Pogo's Empire , which entered the Austrian album charts at number one . About Pogo's Empire and its own beer Turbo beer at Spar Austria since July 2017 sold at retail.
In September 2018 TURBOBIER was on tour for the first time for 13 concerts in Japan, followed by a tour through China in November 2018.
On March 8, 2019, TURBOBIER's third studio album, King of Simmering, was released. Nadine Schmidt from the BurnYourEars webzine described the album as "a record for social gatherings with good people, extremely mood-enhancing and always sophisticated".
Side projects
In 2016, the board game Reparaturseidl came onto the market. In this game you travel through the Viennese districts, buy real estate and build taps. The game is currently sold out and no longer available.
In 2017 Marco Pogo founded the Bierist religious community. The satirical confessional community formulated its own 10 commandments.
The band members were partly active in the band The Gogets .
In reference to the band name, Marco Pogo launched his own beer called TurboBier, which is available in both bottles and cans. It is sold, among other things, on the band's website or the Spar supermarket chain in Austria.
Beer party Austria
The Austrian Beer Party, or BPÖ for short, was launched in 2014 . The party is entered in the Austrian list of parties. For the 2019 National Council election, the party ran for the first time in an election, but failed to make it into parliament. Its central themes are unemployment, beer consumption and the abolition of mixed beer drinks. The beer party is a pure federal party with no formal state organizations.
