Andrew John "Andy" Hilbert (born February 6, 1981 in Howell , Michigan ) is a retired American ice hockey player who played, among other things, xxx games for the Boston Bruins , Chicago Blackhawks , Pittsburgh Penguins , New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League on the position of the center has denied. Hilbert celebrated his greatest career success in the jersey of the national team of the United States by winning the bronze medal at the 2004 World Cup .
Career
Andy Hilbert began his career as a hockey player in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , for which he was active from 1997 to 1999. The attacker then played for the University of Michigan for two years . During this time he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the second round as a total of 37th player by the Boston Bruins . In his four years in Boston Hilbert could never finally prevail, so that he always completed less than 20 games per season and spent the rest of the season with Boston's farm team , the Providence Bruins , in the American Hockey League . During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season , Hilbert was on the ice for Providence throughout the AHL season.
In November 2005, the Boston Bruins gave the American to the Chicago Blackhawks , who sent him on to the Pittsburgh Penguins shortly before the end of the trade deadline . Despite 18 scorer points, including seven goals, in 19 games for Pittsburgh, Hilbert left the Penguins at the end of the season and signed a contract with the New York Islanders as a free agent in the summer of 2006 , for which he was active for three seasons. After spending the 2009/10 season with the Houston Eros and the Minnesota Wild , Hilbert signed a one-year contract with the New York Islanders in August 2010, returning to his old place of work.
International
For the USA , Hilbert took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 1999 and the 1999 , 2000 and 2001 Junior World Championships . Furthermore, Hilbert was in the US squad at the A-World Championships in 2002 , 2004 and 2006 .
