Mark Popovic (born October 11, 1982 in Stoney Creek , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the EC KAC and the Atlanta Thrashers , among others .
Career
Mark Popovic began his career as a hockey player with the Toronto St. Michael's Majors , for which he was active from 1998 to 2002 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2001 in the second round as a total of 35th player by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2003/04 season . He remained unpunished and punished in his only mission. The remaining time from 2002 to 2005, the defender spent with Anaheim's farm team , the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks , in the American Hockey League .
On August 23, 2005, Popovic was given to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Kip Brennan . After two seasons, in which he was mainly for their AHL farm team, the Chicago Wolves , on the ice, the former junior international played exclusively in the NHL for Atlanta in the 2007/08 season . He gave two templates in 33 games. For the 2008/09 season , the Canadian moved to SKA Saint Petersburg from the newly founded Continental Hockey League , for which he scored 22 points in a total of 55 games. Since he still had a valid contract with the Thrashers, the left shooter then returned to the Atlanta Thrashers in the NHL.
In September 2010, the defensive player signed at Lugano in the National League A . On November 18, 2011, he moved within the NLA to the SCL Tigers . In March 2012, his contract was extended for one season until the end of season 2012/13, in which he with the Tigers the league Relegation against Lausanne HC lost and the team in the National League B descent. Then Popovic was signed by the KHL Medveščak Zagreb from the Continental Hockey League, for which he was active in the KHL for two years. In June 2015, Popovic was signed by the EC KAC from the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga , where he was supposed to occupy a "key position".
After the 2016/17 season, the defender decided to end his playing career.

For Canada , Popovic took part in the U20 World Junior Championships in 2001 and 2002 .
