history
The Corpus Christi Ice Rays were founded in 1998 as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League , in which they played until they merged with the Central Hockey League following the 2000/01 season. The team was then accepted into the CHL, in which they reached the playoffs for the Miron Cup for the first time in the 2006/07 season , in the second round of which they won the Laredo Bucks in the best-of-seven series with 1: 4 victories. In the 2008/09 season the IceRays failed in the first play-off round with 1: 2 to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.
In the meantime, the franchise changed its name to Corpus Christi Rayz, but in the summer of 2008 the old name Corpus Christi IceRays was taken over again. Following the 2009/10 season, the franchise was dissolved and replaced by a team of the same name from the US Junior League North American Hockey League .
