The Lossa is a small river in Saxony and a tributary of the Mulde .

course

The Lossa rises east of the Wurzen district of Kühren . The Lossabach, as a tributary to the Lossa, rises east of the village of Ochsensaal (zu Dahlen ). The Lossabach flows into the Lossa near the Lossatal district of Müglenz. The Lossa then flows further northwest through Hohburg , south past the Hohburger mountains , through the place of the same name Lossa and through Thallwitz . Originally the small river crossed under the main line Halle-Eilenburg-Guben and flowed into the Mulde in the northwest of Eilenburg-Ost . In 1924, when the Wurzen – Eilenburg branch line was built , it was directed into the river about two kilometers south of the old estuary. The 76-meter-long railway bridge that was then made redundant was then torn down and a railway embankment built over its pillars. The Lossastraße in Eilenburg-Ost was located in the old course of the Lossa and is accordingly named after the river to which it no longer has any spatial reference today.

In Thallwitz the stream is dammed by a small weir , so that the Herrenteich is created there.
