Kaylyn McKenzie Kyle (born October 6, 1988 in Saskatoon ) is a Canadian former soccer player . She played for the Canadian national team in midfield from 2008 to 2015 .
Career
Kyle played through the Canadian youth national teams and played a total of 35 times for the U-19/20 teams. With the U-20 team, she won the silver medal in the 2006 CONCACAF U-20 Championship for women in 2006 , qualifying for the U-20 World Cup for women in 2006 , from which Canada was eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2008, she won the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship with Canada in 2008 , but was eliminated from the preliminary round of the 2008 U-20 Women's World Cup . At the age of 19, on January 16, 2008, Kyle made her first of 32 international matches in the four-nation tournament against the USA . Although she played four more games in 2008, she was not part of the roster for the Beijing Olympics . In 2009 she was used again at the Cyprus Cup , which Canada lost in the final against England. In 2010 she won the Gold Cup with Canada , with which Canada qualified directly for the 2011 World Cup. In 2011 she won the Cyprus Cup with Canada and scored her first international goals in two friendly matches in Rome against Switzerland and North Korea . She was appointed to the Canadian squad for the World Cup and used in the opening game against Germany and thus for her first World Cup game. She was replaced in the second half. She was also used in the other two group games and was also substituted in the second half. After three defeats she was eliminated with Canada in the preliminary round.
She was also nominated for the 2012 Olympic Games . It was used in all six games and won the bronze medal.
In the 2013 season she played in the newly founded National Women's Soccer League , the highest American professional league in women's football, for Seattle Reign FC . In September 2013, her move to league rivals Boston Breakers in exchange for Carmelina Moscato was announced. After just three game days of the 2014 season and two appearances for Boston, she switched to the Houston Dash franchise in exchange for Nikki Washington . In January 2015 it was allocated to Portland Thorns FC as part of the annual player allocation . In the same year she took part in the World Cup in her own country , where she was substituted on in the opening game against China . She was also substituted on in the second group game against New Zealand . In contrast, she was in the starting line-up in the last group game against the Netherlands . In the round of 16 against Switzerland she was substituted on again, making her 100th international match .
For the 2016 Olympic Games , it was only nominated as a reserve, but not required. In April 2017, she announced her resignation.

During the 2019 World Cup , she worked as an analyst for The Sports Network and criticized the excessive jubilation of the US players after the last goals in the 13-0 win against Thailand , whereupon she received death threats.

She is married to the English professional footballer Harrison Heath .
