Carmelina Moscato (born May 2, 1984 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is a former Canadian soccer player and coach. She played 94 full international matches for the Canadian national team in defense.

Career

In 2002 she won silver with the U-19s at the U-19 World Cup and was nominated for the FIFA All Star Team.

Moscato made her first of 54 international matches against Australia on April 3, 2002, a month before her 18th birthday, and then played regularly in the national team until March 2004. At the Algarve Cup in 2003 and in qualifying for the Olympic Games in 2004, she scored her first two international goals. Another game followed in 2006, after which it was not used again until May 2009 and was used regularly from then on. In 2010, she won the Gold Cup with the national team, which directly qualified Canada for the 2011 World Cup. She was a member of the Canadian squad for the World Cup, but was the only field player not used. In contrast, she was used in all six games at the 2012 Olympic Games and won the bronze medal with Canada.

In the 2013 season she played in the newly founded National Women's Soccer League , the highest American professional league in women's football, first for the Chicago Red Stars . At the end of June 2013, Moscato moved to league rivals Boston Breakers . In September 2013, her move to league rivals Seattle Reign FC in exchange for Kaylyn Kyle was announced. For Seattle, Moscato only came on a brief assignment and was no longer in the Canadian allocation pool for the 2015 season. Nevertheless, she was appointed to the squad for the World Cup in her own country the following year . In the winter of 2016, Moscato ended her career and moved to the Canadian Football Association. At Canada Soccer, she will take on the position of Regional EXCEL Talent Manager and will also be a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps and FC Edmonton Academie staff .
