The 1998/99 season was the eleventh regular season of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The 27 teams completed 70 matches each in the regular season . The team with the highest points in the regular season was the Pee Dee Pride , while the Mississippi Sea Wolves won their first ever Kelly Cup in the play-offs .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Louisville River Frogs were relocated to Miami , Florida , and from then on played under the name Miami Matadors .
- The Raleigh Icecaps were relocated to Augusta , Georgia , and from then on played under the name Augusta Lynx .
- The Florida Everblades were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Greenville Grrrowl were added to the league as an expansion team.
