The 1998/99 season was the fourth regular season of the West Coast Hockey League . During the regular season, the nine teams should play 70 games each, but the schedule had to be changed due to the early financial departure of the Tucson Gila Monsters . In the play-offs, the Tacoma Sabercats prevailed and won the first Taylor Cup in their club history.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Reno Rage stopped the game.
- The Alaska Gold Kings returned to the league after a year of inactivity , relocated to Colorado Springs , Colorado , and changed their name to the Colorado Gold Kings .
- The Bakersfield Fog changed their name to Bakersfield Condors.
- The Fresno Fighting Falcons reverted to their original name Fresno Falcons.
