The Tucson Gila Monsters were an American ice hockey team from Tucson , Arizona . The team played in the West Coast Hockey League from 1997 to 1999 .
history
The Tucson Gila Monsters were founded in 1997 as a franchise of the West Coast Hockey League . In their first season they were the only one of the nine teams to miss the playoffs for the Taylor Cup after finishing the season in fifth and thus last place in the WCHL South Division. At the beginning of the 1998/99 season, their second season, the team had to stop playing due to financial problems and those responsible dissolved the franchise. In both seasons, the Canadian Martin Raymond worked for the team from Arizona .
