The Colorado Gold Kings were an American ice hockey team from Colorado Springs , Colorado . The team played in the West Coast Hockey League from 1998 to 2002 .

history

The Alaska Gold Kings from the West Coast Hockey League were relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1998 after a year of inactivity and renamed the Colorado Gold Kings. In their first season, the team immediately reached the playoffs for the Taylor Cup as third in the WCHL North Division , in which, however, they were defeated by the Anchorage Aces in the best-of-three series with 1: 2 wins in the first round . In the following two seasons, the Gold Kings failed each time in the second play-off round to the Tacoma Sabercats and Idaho Steelheads . Following the 2001/02 season, those responsible withdrew the team from the WCHL's game operations and dissolved the franchise .
