The Reno Renegades were an American ice hockey team from Reno , Nevada . The team played in the West Coast Hockey League from 1995 to 1998 .
history
The team was founded in 1995 under the name Reno Renegades as a franchise of the West Coast Hockey League . In their first season, the Renegades as third in the WCHL immediately reached the playoffs for the Taylor Cup , in which they were defeated in the first round by the Fresno Falcons with a sweep in the best-of-five series. In the following season, they missed the playoffs after finishing fifth in the regular season. The franchise was then renamed Reno Rage. Under this name, the team from Nevada competed in the WCHL in the 1997/98 season, in which they despite their fourth and thus last place in the WCHL North Division due to the higher score compared to the last of the South Division, the Tucson Gila Monsters , entered the playoffs. Like two years before, they were eliminated in the first round after they were again defeated in the best-of-five series with a sweep, this time against the eventual finalist Tacoma Sabercats .
