NGC 1254 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type e-S0 in the constellation Cetus north of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 511 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on September 9, 1864 .
